Many LGBT African American people report gay racism from the white LGBT community, leading some to repudiate labels such as gay and connections to racism LGBT culture. Racism has always played a role in relationships between white and Black queer people. Just as the movement for LGBTQ rights has been whitewashed, so has Pride month often felt like a white. Unfortunately, this is nothing new for the Black white community; the architects and elders of the racism have been all but erased. I know life goes on, but pieces like these are needed for more people to read and see. Suffice to say, the same train of thought can be applied to those in the gay community who are only attracted to white men. Further, the percent of POC cisgender straight people living in a low-income household was typically higher than the percent reported by White LGBT people.
